Connecticut Practice Book Revisions

On June 22, 2009, the judges of the Superior Court adopted revisions to the Connecticut Practice Book. The revisions become effective on January 1, 2010, except the revisions to Practice Book Section 13-4 which become effective on September 1, 2009.

New Filing Fees - Effective July 1, 2009
Effective July 1, 2009 there will be an increase in court filing fees:
 
Dissolution of Marriage             $300.00

Custody/Visitation Application   $300.00

Motion for Modification           
$125.00
 
Motion to Re-open                  $125.00
 
Summary Process (Eviction)      $175.00

Small Claims Writ                     $75.00

Small Claims Executions            $75.00

Connecticut Practice Book - 2009 Edition
The 2009 edition of the Connecticut Practice Book is now available online at http://www.jud.ct.gov/pb.htmAlso, amendments to the Rules of Appellate Procedure, which are effective March 1, 2009, have been published.
Revisions to Foreclosure Standing Orders and Forms
The Judicial Branch has announced revisions to the foreclosure standing orders, as well changes to some foreclosure forms and the creation of new ones.

Amendments to the Rules of Appellate Procedure, Practice Book, and Code of Evidence
The recent amendments to the Rules of Appellate Procedure and revisions to the Practice Book and Code of Evidence have been posted to Connecticut Judicial Branch Web site. Most of the changes are effective on January 1, 2009. However, "the revisions to Rules 1.15 and 8.3 of the Rules of Professional Conduct, to Canon 3 of the Code of Judicial Conduct and to Practice Book Section 1-10...become effective on August 1, 2008." Multi-Jurisdictional Practice
The Judicial Branch has created an information page to assist practitioners with the modifications to Rule 5.5 of the Rules of Professional Conduct pertaining to the provision of certain legal services by lawyers not admitted to practice in Connecticut. Advertising Advisory Opinions
Connecticut Practice Book section 2-28B lets attorneys request advance advisory opinions from the Statewide Grievance Committee regarding proposed advertisements. These advertising advisory opinions are now posted on the Statewide Grievance Committee website in reverse chronological order. The Statewide Grievance Committee has posted more information about requesting an advisory opinion on its website.
