New Foreclosure Mediation Program
The Connecticut Judicial Branch has posted a notice regarding Public Act 08-176, An Act Concerning Responsible Lending and Economic Security. Effective July 1, 2008, there will be a new foreclosure mediation program:

In order to qualify for this program, the borrower/homeowner must be an owner-occupant of a one-to-four family residential property. The property must be the homeowner’s primary residence and located in Connecticut. The lender must serve a Notice to Homeowner, JD-CV-94 and Foreclosure Mediation Request, JD-CV-93 form to the homeowner when it commences the foreclosure action. [Read the full text of the notice.]

The OLR bill analysis (summary) for Public Act 08-176 describes the many other provisions of the act, including changes to the Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program, new requirements for mortgage loans, and a private right of action for violations of the act's provisions.
